Orange County Film & Tourism Office
Overview
Some internships are about getting coffee and mindless paperwork. Others, though, give you the opportunity to face new challenges head-on and learn skills you didn’t even know existed. Luckily, my internship with OCNY Film & Tourism was the second kind. My primary role was to create content for the film office’s Instagram page in order to promote county filming locations, showcase my responsibilities as an intern, educate about jobs in film, and of course, be memorable and entertaining. I also supported the tourism office’s socials occasionally, making videos visiting local businesses and destinations to promote fun things to do in the county.
In addition to my social media work, I took photos and videos of many county filming locations to keep the office’s database updated and accessible for industry professionals. I took on a project to streamline the submission process for locations looking to become certified film-friendly, resulting in a more comprehensive intake form, cutting down on the amount of back and forth needed before going to photograph and register a location to our database. With this improved system, the office added new locations to the database much faster.
